 January 20, 2012

Honorable Frederick Chirigotis, President

BarnstableTown Council

367 Main Street

Hyannis,MA02601

 Dear President Chirigotis:

I write to you today to notify you that I am not interested in being considered a candidate for the position of Town Manager inBarnstable.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve as your Town Manager for the past twelve years. I know how blessed we are to have an extraordinary group of Town employees who are making a difference inBarnstableeach day. I want to thank the many Town Councilors and citizen committee volunteers who have served this Town so well over the past twelve years for their leadership, guidance and friendship.

Thanks to you and our staff, the past twelve years have brought financial stability and accountability including a AAA bond rating to our Town. We have witnessed an increase in the quality of life in Barnstable with a great school system, expanded recreational opportunities, increased access to our coastal waterways, protection of our open spaces, expansion of our arts and cultural programs and a civic engagement and public outreach program that is one of the best in the State.

The citizens ofBarnstablesent a clear message in November founded on an unmistakable desire to return civility to local government and I applaud the commitment of you, the returning members of the Council and, most especially, the wonderful group of new Councilors who bring so much promise to our community.

I wish you and the Town Council every success in the future.

 Sincerely,

John C. Klimm

  1. This is a classic case of the “new” council not moving fast enough to undo the damage. I guess no one on the council has ever heard the expression: “You snooze You Lose!”

  2. Oh and let’s not forget that we are still paying John Klimm through the middle of 2013!!!

  3. The search for a new town manager would have been a higher priority than figuring out how to quash public comment for most, but not Joakim, Barton and the goat, who simply can’t handle criticism.

I’m sickened by the way they are treating Canedy and Norman. Barnstable village voters are more savvy than most, and saw through Joakim’s infamous “vendetta” allegations. BV had the 2nd highest turnout in November, and Candedy won by a sizable margin.

The recall of John Norman never got off the ground because there simply wasn’t much support for it. The organizer sounded like she was just going after Norman because he didn’t put up with her screeching at him on the telephone. Besides, that precinct had the lowest turnout of all: 6.59%.

Once the new councilors settle in, the goat and his little nanny goats will have a harder time shoving their old agendas down everyone’s throat.

  4. We were so happy to have the gum flappin’, talking just talk Greg Milne gone, unfortunately with the new council we have to listen to Janet Joakim blabber about teaching the new council about how things work. She really thinks she’s more important than she really is. What is the countdown until she’s done as well? Please stop talking just to talk, we don’t need to be schooled by you.

  5. As of right now she will be gone in November 2013, unless the “new” council approves a possible change in the council term limit.

  6. We need to keep on top of that change regarding term limits. Some of them are part of the caustic environment that still exists within the town council.
Kind of strange that people who aren’t all that great at their personal finances are the ones making decisions for the town.

  7. It’s always easy to spend somebody else’s money.

The vote that tried to squeeze public comment into once a month was telling. Hyannis councilors Cullum and Dagwan had sponsored the item, but when they realized the true motive, cooked up by the Joakim/goat camp, they bailed on the vote. Everyone knows Joakim only calls when she wants something, and rarely if ever returns favors. Daley and Cullum will figure this out eventually.

After about six months, if not already, every councilor will know the color of Joakim’s skin, and which other councilors are of the same species.

Right now, the only true “Klimmbobs” left on the council are Joakim, Barton, Chirigotis and June Daley. As long as they remain outnumbered on the big issues, I think we’re going to see some big changes on how this town is run.

Lest we forget what a crazyass megalomaniac Janet Joakim is, never forget how she revealed her true trashy self on her attempt to combat local bloggers: http://www.capecog.com/capecog/2008/03/free-speech-fre.html

She was forced to remove all that filth because I was going to sue and win a libel suit against her. Another blogger is rehashing the same baloney, but since she is certifiably mental, there’s little point to a civil suit at the moment. Thankfully she’s spending her time killing trees in Taunton. For those of you worried about her getting a nursing license, don’t. That ship has sailed to crazy island.

All that said, Scary Mary did have a good case against Janet Joakim, the council and the cops, for calling her out of order the night she objected to Joakim’s filthy blogging. What’s sad (& scary) is that when you lose credibility like she has, people like Joakim and the police can kick you around and get away with it, even when the abusive incident is televised. Clements wrote Joakim a letter of apology after that incident, and then sought advice on suing for violation of her rights – not helpful.

Folks who have no experience running their own businesses have an easy time criticizing those who work long hours for decades, and run into problems with a tax bill, bad economy, crap housing market, etc…

What I don’t understand is how guys like Julius and Lopez constantly cry how they’re all about helping people, but pounce on real people with real problems. This goes double for Lopez, who sits on his fat ass all day trying to destroy, rather than create universes. God help John Julius if he ever makes a financial mistake.

Joakim never ran a business that generated more than a few thousand dollars a month, and has a decades long history of not being able to pay her bills. She was fully aware that her “fourty” dollar bounced check was posted on a local business’ wall of shame, but didn’t give a damn about paying the owner until it was plastered all over the internet. Unlike some who have fallen on hard times, Joakim is simply a person of low moral standards. She attracts her own kind.

I don’t know a lot about Tom Lynch, other than the general consensus that he’s a real nice guy. Of course that’s not a unanimous sentiment, and not enough to qualify him for the position of town manager. He does seem like someone the council can control, and that seems to be the name of the game in town hall. If nothing else, the search for a new town manager will be interesting to watch!

  8. I agree that we are in for some big changes and that is going to start with the hiring of a new town manager. This will lead to the first big change and that is the town manager’s salary which is going to be increased dramatically. The reason I say this is because no intelligent candidate for town manager is going to work for less money then what the superintendent is currently making. I have a feeling this may have played a part in John Klimm deciding not to return as Town Manager.

Why would any town manager want to make $40,000 or more less then the school superintendent?

So the search for a new town manager should be both interesting and unfortunately very expensive.

  9. Barnstable Public schools are glorified daycare centers. Thanks, Patsy!

If they hire a town manager who understands that she/he’s not the mayor, then it might be worth the extra dough.
